Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know the process of the evaluation?

How long will it take the Psychological Evaluation?

Can you contact my immigration attorney after I pay for Psychological evaluation service?

Do we offer in person services if so which one?

What are the difference between Individual therapy (Counseling) and Life Coaching services?

No, we do not offer in person sessions. Our practice only offers individual & Couple therapy and Life Coaching online/video/telehealth sessions. We encourage clients to try one session and see if this is a good fit for them. On the other hand, the evaluations are offered online and/or in person.

In individual therapy sessions, the focus is on addressing mental health conditions such as trauma, depression, and anxiety among others which provide a clinical diagnosis for treatment based on medical necessity. For these reasons, therapy could be covered by health insurance. On the other hand, Life Coaching specifically targets barriers that hinder skill development in work, school, and life. Life coaching aims to enhance these skills and improve specific areas of life. Additionally, life coaching is not covered by health insurance since it is nonclinical and is not based on medical necessity.

Can I do text therapy?

We do not offer text therapy. We only offer online/video/telehealth sessions.

Can younger children do telehealth?

No, the minimum age limit for online/telehealth/video sessions is 10-11 years old.

Do you offer consultation?

No, we do not offer consultation.  Instead we encourage clients to schedule an intake session appointment so that we can begin the clinical therapeutic process immediately with clients.

What is the best way to schedule an appointment?

The best way to schedule an appointment is through our website. The phone is an option but due to the fact that we may be in sessions, the electronic communication works best. All phone calls and website questions will be answered as quickly as possible regardless.

How do I need to get ready for my session?

Our office manager will help clients make sure that all forms are signed and returned prior to session. Client(s) should be sure to be in a safe, quiet and private environment, connected to the internet, with a web camera and a microphone for sessions. A smart phone or tablet works as well.

Once I schedule an appointment can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Sessions can be canceled or rescheduled up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled meeting time. There is a $100 dollar fee for no shows and late cancelations.  We encourage clients to plan and budget their time and schedule so that they can benefit from consistent weekly therapy sessions. Contact the office manager to discuss canceling or rescheduling any appointments.

Can you contact my insurance to obtain my benefit information?

No, we don’t. *The client is responsible for verifying that telehealth is a covered benefit of their plan.* Our office manager will provide a superbill invoice that reflects all the out-of-pocket payments you have made for each session so you can contact your insurance. They will provide information on how you can get reimbursed for what you pay. However, obtaining any information before you start paying out of pocket is recommended so you can understand if your insurance will reimburse you or not.

Why is it important to know my own health insurance plan/benefits?

We work with clients to empower them to advocate for themselves and that is why we do not manage their insurance benefits, we only help to do so. We are only able to pass the information we get along. It is the clients responsibility to verify their plan coverage.

If I call my insurance, what information do I need to obtain for the office manager?

Clients should verify if their plan covers online/video/telehealth sessions for behavioral health/mental health in an outpatient counseling setting. It would also be best to know what your deductible is, if you have satisfied it, and if there an out-of-pocket limit, copayment or coinsurance to know about.

What is out of pocket or private pay?

Out of pocket or private pay is when the client assumes 100% of the cost for sessions. If a client has not met the deductible or the out of pocket limit, depending on their insurance plan, or when the insurance will not cover the sessions, the client is 100% responsible for paying for the sessions.

Can I pay by using my HSA or FSA card?

Yes, you can as long as it has the available balance to cover the session fee.

What is deductible?

The deductible is the out of pocket amount of money you must meet or pay annually. Once you have met your deductible, your insurance will typically cover 100% of the cost of the sessions most of the time.

What is out of pocket limit of your insurance?

The out-of-pocket limit is the most you pay during a year. This has to be met before your insurance pays 100%.

What is co-pay or co-payment?

The co-pay or co-payment is the out-of-pocket portion that the client is responsible to pay for each session.

What is co-insurance?

After scheduling the evaluation appointment, the evaluator will contact you by phone to provide general information about the entire process before the appointment.

It takes approximately 5-8 hours to conduct the interview and two weeks to write the report. If you already have a court date, please schedule the psychological evaluation four weeks in advance.

Yes, we can. Initially, we will contact the attorney to ensure that the required evaluation is the one that is needed. After the assessment report is completed, we will contact the attorney to provide a draft of the report so your attorney can ask questions or ask for clarification on the information. Then, your attorney will have a copy as part of the case.

Co-insurance is a percentage of the total bill that clients are responsible to pay per session. For example, the 20%.
